Merry Christmas to One and All!

Feeling especially blessed and thankful this Christmas for this wonderful gift. It's now 16 days into my confinement and although I'm tired, I'm thankful for this little munchkin and the amount of joy he gives me each day. I'm also thankful for the nanny who wakes up 3-4 times a night to feed him so I don't have to. I'm thankful for my wonderful hubby, who has been staying home to accompany me through 28 days of torture confinement and doing the marketing and chores so I can rest, feed and take care of Lucas.

herrow my sweetie pie!
Looking forward to his full month celebration! I busy myself with baking, planning and working from home to pass the time. So far it's been bearable because I constantly remind myself that this is probably my last days of freedom before I go into full-blown mummy duty once the nanny leaves and the hubby goes back to work.

Mini cream cheese raisin butter loaves!
Baked some mini treats for us last night as a celebratory Christmas supper. It was a simple Christmas day spent with Mum and Dad who came over to cuddle their grandson who very unabashedly slept through the whole afternoon while his grandparents waited patiently for him to wake up for 5 hours.

"Grandma will take a photo with you sleeping anyway!"
Here's wishing all our readers a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! Good tidings to everyone and may you have an awesome day with your loved ones! :)

And here he is!

Yes it's official. I'm a Mummy now. Say hello to Baby Lucas!

And look at this adoring face of a new Daddy. Beaming with glee while holding his fresh-out-of-the-oven baby boy.
Dear daddy here has never held a newborn baby until now!
The whole episode seems so surreal; even now I'm still reeling from the adrenalin rush of the whole experience. No amount of reading done can prepare you for the moment they drop your newborn baby into your arms. Will share Lucas's birth story as soon as I've caught up on some sleep.

With Love, from Hubby

Flowers from the hubby to brighten up my hospital stay which was gloomy because I was stuck in a double bedder due to the lack of single occupancy room during my stay. And a double bedder has a no lodger policy so my poor husband has to travel between hospital and home every day.

A bouquet from my aunt in Vancouver who was sorry she couldn't be here to see her first grandnephew.

Lucas is now 1 week old! Happy 1 week my sweetie-pie!

Crazy mummy gone wild

It's really easy to overspend on baby clothes because each outfit looks too adorable to pass up. That was my downfall as I entered the Mothercare sale last week. 3 pieces and above and I get 30% off. I channeled my inner shopaholic into full-blown baby shopping madness. This is what happens when you go cold turkey on shopping for yourself over the past 1 year.

I spent almost 2 hours in Mothercare practicing much self-restraint. I cannot imagine the damage done to my wallet had baby L been a girl. Oohh such beautiful baby girl items at Mothercare... the bows, ribbons, cupcakes prints and pink frills... (*^^*)♡

And because that wasn't bad enough, I went to Spring Maternity and got something from the circus collection for baby L because he's born in the year of the horse! Do take a walk into Spring Maternity and caress their new bamboo cotton range. I went home and told hubby that I was extremely jealous of the baby because he gets to wear such cottony soft clothes. (⇀‸↼‶)

Lookie at the little horsey motifs!

Just the other day, Mum was telling me about how soft babies heads were and how pulling one-sies down from his little head may distort it. I know it sounds ridiculous but I panicked at the sudden thought of it seeing how many one-sies I got from relatives and Carter's. So I decided that we needed to get some kimono tops especially for his first month because they are easier to wear than one-sies and more convenient for changing his diapers.
I found out about Shen Kwong Trading through mummy forums and decided to check it out since we were heading to the temple to pray. The shop is tucked at a corner of the row of shophouses right opposite Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple at Bugis. They are a local distributor of baby clothes so you can imagine my joy when I entered the shop to find that they have almost everything I'll need! I was quite cheesed with myself for not discovering this place sooner!

We didn't need to get a lot of stuff since we are more or less done buying so we got only what we needed, which were;

1) 6 short-sleeved kimono tops, as day wear ($12)
2) 6 long-sleeved kimono tops, as day wear ($13)
3) 6 pairs of long pants plain ($13)
4) 6 pairs of day shorts with prints ($16)
5) 6 pieces of wash cloths ($5)

Total damage: $59

All the wittle baby clothes!
And yes, I promised hubby I would stop.

It was really fun washing his little clothes too! To hover beneath rows and rows of miniature clothing was really amusing as opposed to our usual laundry load.

In other news, I did buy something for our new place. I'm turning into a full-fledged auntie.

WOAH!

DAMN CHEAP CAN! I grabbed 15 sets because it was too good a deal to pass up.  I've been meaning to standardize the hangers in our walk-in and now we can! Hangers are not at all cheap, even hangers from Daiso only bundled together 5-8 pieces. This is wayyyy better! When I went back the next day, the price went back up to $5.90. That made me even happier.

The waiting game has begun. My hospital bag is packed and we're good to go!
Baby L, we can't wait to see you!!!

A hectic 2 weeks

Over the past couple of weekends, we've been hosting housewarming gatherings for close friends and family. What a busy 2 weeks! *whew* Now that all that's done, we can finally settle into full nesting mode waiting for baby L to arrive!

Many thanks to friends and family members for your wonderful gifts and hongbaos!

Pressies for the baby!

Some housewarming gifts
Catering for 4 separate groups of people can be overwhelming. But we somehow managed to get it done. Hubby has been superb, rushing to order food, collect them and cooking for some of our friends. I could only contribute little treats in the baking department.

I baked mini chocolate muffins for my guests :)

I walked by a stationery store and saw these uber cute Disney baby rattle toys! They are washable and I thought it'll make such an adorable Christmas gift for baby L. So I bought 1 on impulse and hope that he'll like rattling it!

shoooo cute!

Hubby turned 29  21 *opps* last week and we had a mini pre-celebration for him because I'm too big and clumsy to plan anything too elaborate. So I promised I'll do better next year for his big 3 *opps*.

Hubby beaming with his chocolate fudge cake!
Then on his actual birthday, I brought him to Wooloomooloo for his annual atas steak treat! The USDA Prime ribeye was awesome! I downed all 12 ounces of it despite being really full. The steak was perfectly done in my opinion, but the menu in general is almost identical to Morton's. The standard of the steak was pretty on par, but the appetizers and sides pale in comparison to Morton's. Morton's was still a clear winner in the steakhouse department, at least for us.

Happy Moo-day husband of mine!
But this, this little chocolate devil stole my heart. The creaminess of the ice cream, the texture of the cake and the oozing chocolate lava is just pure heaven. It wasn't too sweet, it was perfect. It was one of the, if not, the best chocolate lava cake I've tasted. This is a definite MUST ORDER!

And because we were celebrating 2 occasions, they very kindly doodled two celebratory notes on the plate for us.

*I miss this sooo much!*

It's been almost 2 months since we've last watched a movie, and probably a couple more after I've popped before another movie night together. This prompted me to splurge on awesome seats to pamper ourselves, the parents-to-be. The hubs wanted to shop around Vivo-city while I was desperate to get into the Gold Class lounge. He stopped by a nut shop to browse some nuts and I looked at my phone and realized we were running out of time to chill in the lounge. So I whipped out the pre-collected tickets from my bag and held it in front of his face to tell him that we needed to go. The look on his face was priceless.

Movie night!

And then it was the Philips Carnival Sale that I've been waiting super impatiently for! I was so afraid that I would pop before I can get to the event to grab the remaining baby stuff but we made it!! So we got the Avent sterilizer and warmer set for S$159 with free bottles and baby pillows, the new born starter kit with a set of clothes and some bottles for S$35 and some storage cups for a friend at 10 for $22. Really good deals!

Baby Loots!

So all in all, it has been a very eventful couple of weeks. This is perhaps our last weekend alone so we're gonna make full use of it and spend as much time as we can together before the baby mayhem begins. I'm so nervous and yet I can hardly wait! Oh baby baby when can we see you? :)
