Woke up on Saturday with a craving for my favourite fish soup at Amoy. Have an infuriating love affair with this stall since 6 years ago and have not looked back since. They are so so expensive and requires a waiting time of 45 minutes, but all's worth it when you dig into that bowl of delicious goodness. Just thinking about it makes me salivate.

Then it was off for some retail therapy at Takashimaya and Isetan. Conquered the malls with bags of household goodies in tow for the new place. I've waited long enough. I hate hate that HDB is taking so damn long to complete our project. Damn China Jing Ye and your noob attempts at constructing my home. Projects that were launched a year later than ours are now in the process of key collection. Seriously?! Boo you!

Hubby attempted to cheer me up by getting me something for my sweet tooth.

Yummy!

A very fun-filled and busy weekend ahead, with CNY goodies to buy and relatives to visit. CNY mood will be kept muted this year due to the recent passing of both grandmas last year. However, this will be our first year distributing hong baos! Excited and dreading it at the same time.

I had more fun scouting out my CNY outfits. That was the only thing keeping me sane. These are my top choices for this year's CNY.

How are you guys getting on with your CNY shopping? :)

Starting 2014 with a bang!

3 days in and I was off on a mini-break with mumsy. After 2 failed attempts at going on our bi-annual trips together, we were off to a great start for 2014!

Off we go!

We arrived at about 10pm and hopped onto a cab to take us to our hotel. The cab queue was about 10 miles long and we waited in line for 45 mins amidst smokers from different lands. Times like this I wish I was back in Singapore, with the 'no smoking in queues' policy. I was subjected to 45 mins of second hand smoke and I felt like I was going to pass out. The travel time between Pudong International Airport and our hotel took about 45 mins and costed us almost RMB260 which is about SGD$54. Pricey much due to the midnight surcharge.

Then we checked into our hotel and boy, I have to say, I'm in LOVE with our hotel room, although nothing beats my honeymoon suite at Marriott Singapore on my wedding day. That's the superficial benchmark that I've set for hotel rooms now because seriously, how does anyone go from Presidential to Standard? Anyhoo, the room was really cozy and has one of the prettiest toilets ever. I felt like I was in a resort, and the complimentary Lanvin toiletries is just the icing on the cake.

We didn't do a detailed Shanghai itinerary because it was basically a chill out trip for me and mum. Since it just us girls, I felt that it wasn't safe for us to venture too far out so we kept to places that were accessible via the MRT.

New shoes from the hubby!

I miss you sooooo much!

It was about 6 degrees in Shanghai and was really cold. I kept myself warm with the best, yes I repeat, the BEST BUBBLE TEA I've ever tasted in my life. I ordered the warm one and it was amazing. Before you go ewww... warm bubble tea?! I can say that not only does it not taste the least bit weird, but it's such an amazing comfort to wrap your icy cold hands around the cup to thaw those painful fingers. I had the pudding, bubble milk tea and just thinking about it now makes me salivate. I'll make a trip back just for these babies!

Meet, the BEST tang baos that I've ever tasted in my life! Seriously orgasmic. If I wasn't already stuffed to the brim, I'll order 1 more basket of this and savour every last drop of the soup essence. It was mindblowingly awesome and makes the Singapore DinTaiFung ones that I love, subpar. It contains crab roe, crab meat and pork contained in a veil-thin layer of skin packed with wholesome broth. It's a no frills quick stop for a dose of authentic xiao long baos. A must-try in Shanghai!

We visited the Bund at night time and it was absolutely beautiful! But it was freeeeezing cold so we had to brave the wind and frozen fingers trying really hard to take nice and steady pictures. But the Bund is truly an awesome place to take a walk when the weather is kinder.

That just about sums up our short trip to Shanghai! I'll update more when I finish uploading pictures into my comp from my camera.

Have a great weekend peeps! :)
